Measuring Blood Glucose with GlucoSmart ® Swing

Easy two step Measurement

1. Insert the blood glucose test strip
2. hold the test strip at the side of the blood bowl

  • Average blood glucose level related to 0, 1, 7, 14, 21, 28, 60 and 90 days adjustable. The choice of 90 days enables the estimation of your HbA1c value when using a calculatino table.   • By the PC-interface (optional usb adapter cable) the measurement results can be transferred to the PC and analyzed.
  • The used teststrip can be ejected by pushing the eject button.
  • The meter is whole blood calibrated. The result can be displayed also as Plasma-equivalent by adjustment of the settings.
  • The meter enables a user assignment for 5 users. The user-ID (1 to 5) is displayed. This allowes the multiple usage of the device for up to 5 users, or the marking of the personal meter within a group of persons using the same meter type.

Insert test strip

Insert a test strip into the device. The calibration is performed automatically by the device by reading the test strip code from the test strip. The identified code number appears for a moment.

Intake of the blood probe
Hold a drop of blood at the marked capillary opening at the side of the test strip. The blood drop will be absorbed automatically. A control electrode assures the disposal of a sufficient quantity of blood. Additionally the test strip window enables the verification that no air bubble entered into the capillary. The acoustic signal indicates, that the measurement cycle has started (the signal can be shut off in the settings).

After the start of the measurement cycle, a countdown of 5 seconds is shown on the display.
The result of the blood glucose test appears after the countdown.

Optional: Adding of an Event

You have the ability before removing the test strip, to add an event symbol to the measurement result. Pushing the + or - button, you can choose the symbol. When removing the teststrip, the actually displayed symbol is saved with the result. If the measurements are transferred to a Computer, the events support the statistical evaluation of the measurement results. These informations can help your diabetes health care specialist to judge your personal Diabetes and success of treatment.
 

Memory

The measurement result and the event is automatically saved by the GlucoSmart ® Swing Bood Glucose Meter. The last 500 results are stored together with time, date, and event in the memory. By pressing the + or - buttons, you can inform yourself about the average blood glucose measurement result, the measurement results, measurement events and dates.

Calibration
 When switched on, the code number appears on the upper left side of the display.
The code number has to match with the code number on the strip vial.
If the numbers are different, the code can be changed easily with the buttons.
If the numbers are different, press the On/Off-button for 2 seconds (code starts flashing) and change the code with the side buttons.

The disposal of a sufficient quantity of blood can be controlled visually by the control-window of the test strip. The right, big window must be filled with blood.
